Job summary

AbleLiving Services and Thrive Group collaborate to provide non-medical personal support to adults with disabilities in Burlington. The Westwood Project operates in L7T with part-time shifts and requires a vehicle and driver's license.

The role focuses on assisting clients with personal care, life-skills support, and light housekeeping while coordinating with clients, families, and partners. A High School Diploma is required, with additional certifications preferred and a Vulnerable Sector Check

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and experience in personal support for people with disabilities and/or seniors.
  • Additional certification in personal support care, first aid, health care or related qualification preferred.
  • Ability to empathize with people with physical and emotional needs.
  • Knowledge of basic math and ability to do calculations and quantity measurements.
  • Must be able to plan and organize work and perform tasks according to priority.
  • Ability to make solid decisions and problem-solve effectively.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with a competent level of English.
  • Able to communicate in other languages is an asset.
  • Must demonstrate high commitment to providing exceptional customer service and be reliable, punctual, and capable of managing time effectively.
  • Ability to develop supportive relationships and work collaboratively with clients, family members, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Must be able to take direction and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check or Criminal Reference Check is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide non-medical personal support services, life-skills support and light housekeeping to enable clients to live independently at home.
  • Assist clients with personal care, arrange and escort to appointments, and perform housekeeping.
  • Work under direction of clients or decision-makers and in accordance with service contracts and laws.

AbleLiving Services is a non-profit organization providing personal support services to adults with disabilities living within their own home or one of our independent living facilities. Our clients direct and customize the services they receive and we support them to maximize their independence and enhance their quality of life. We provide services across the Golden Horseshoe in the Mississauga, Burlington, Stoney Creek and Hamilton communities.

We are currently hiring Part Time Personal Attendants to join our Westwood Project team located in Burlington. Westwood Hub provides services to clients living in their own homes within the L7T postal code in Burlington.

Shift times:

6:30 am - 4:30 pm; 7 am - 3 pm; 12 pm - 10 pm; 2 pm - 12:00 am

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the program supervisor, this position is responsible for providing non-medical personal support services, life-skills support and light housekeeping duties to enable clients to remain in their own homes and live as independently as possible. Duties include assisting clients with personal care, arranging and escorting clients to appointments, and housekeeping services. Such duties are carried out under the direction of the client or alternate decision-maker and in accordance with Client Service Contracts, laws and regulations governing service provision.

Requirements:
  • A High School Diploma and experience in the provision of personal support services to people with disabilities and/or seniors are requirements for this position.
  • Additional certification in personal support care, first aid, health care or other related qualification preferred.
