Job summary

Thrive Group Canada in Hamilton Mountain is seeking empathetic, compassionate Part-Time Personal Attendants to provide non-medical personal support, life-skills coaching and light housekeeping so clients can live independently at home.

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, duties include assisting with personal care, arranging escort to appointments, and light housekeeping. PSW certification or non-certified candidates are welcome; training is provided. $24.00 hourly.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience or knowledge of providing support services for people with disabilities and/or seniors is an asset.
  • Empathy with people with physical and emotional needs is essential.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both oral and written.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check or Criminal Reference Check is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide non-medical personal support, life-skills coaching and light housekeeping.
  • Assist clients with personal care and escort to appointments.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, this position is responsible for providing non-medical personal support services, life-skills support and light housekeeping duties to enable clients to remain in their own homes and live as independently as possible. Duties include assisting clients with personal care, arranging and escorting clients to appointments, and housekeeping services. Such duties are carried out under the direction of the client or alternate decision maker and in accordance with Client Service Contracts, laws and regulations governing service provision.

EMPLOYMENT GUIDE:
  • Prior experience or knowledge of providing support services for people with disabilities and/or seniors are an asset
  • Additional certification in personal support care, first aid, health care or other related qualification preferred.
  • Ability to empathize with people with physical and emotional needs is essential.
  • Knowledge of basic math and ability to do calculations and quantity measurements are required.
  • Must be able to plan and organize work and perform tasks according to priority.
  • Ability to make solid decisions and problem-solve effectively are also essential.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with a competent level of English are requirements.
  • Able to communicate in other languages is an asset.
  • Must demonstrate high commitment to providing exceptional customer service and be reliable, punctual, and capable of managing time effectively.
  • Ability to develop supportive relationships and work collaboratively with clients, family members, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners are essential.
  • Must be able to take direction and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check or Criminal Reference Check is required.
  • A valid driving licence and reliable transportation may be a requirement for this position.

Job Type: part-time, permanent

Hourly Rate: $24.00
