Job summary

St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph is seeking a Personal Support Worker to provide compassionate, resident-centered care in a long-term care setting. The role reports to nursing leadership and works as part of a collaborative care team to support daily living activities and comfort for residents.

Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, nutrition, mobility, and communications with residents and families, while adhering to care plans and organizational policies.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize.
• Ability to function as a team member in a collaborative environment.
• Ability to accept direction and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal hygiene (bathing, dressing, grooming).
• Assist with nutrition and hydration; set up meals and report intake.
• Assist with urinary and bowel elimination; support toileting and continence needs.
• Promote comfort with positioning, mobility, and turning per care plan.
• Support skin integrity and safe environment; report changes.
• Support residents’ rest and socialization; collaborate with care team.
