Job summary

L'Arche Canada in Hamilton, ON is seeking a Part-time Direct Support Assistant to join the house team. The role involves supporting individuals with disabilities, day-to-day living, and community participation in a home setting.

The position is permanent, 20 hours per week with option for relief hours; flexible hours including mornings, evenings and weekends may apply. You will work closely with the House Leader and fellow assistants to maintain a welcoming, safe home environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• English or French: effective spoken and written communication in a team.
• Clear vulnerable sector police check.
• CPR and First Aid certification or training.
• Minimum 18 years old.
• Knowledge of L’Arche history, values and vision.
• Ability to manage stress and multitask.
• Ability to take direction and follow through.
• Open to learn and grow; able to give and receive feedback.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care supports and assistance in daily living activities.
• Support personal care, life goals, money management, medical care and medications.
• Help with meals, housekeeping, transportation and errands.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation as directed.
• Collaborate with house leader and other assistants on household duties.
• Participate in meetings and community events and celebrations.
• Adhere to policies and safety procedures.

Skills

Bilingual English/French

Clear police check (vulnerable sector)

CPR & First Aid certification

18+ years of age

Knowledge of L’Arche values

Education
