Job summary

L’Arche Antigonish is seeking Casual Assistants to support core members in daily living, meals, personal routines, transportation, and enabling community participation. The role emphasizes companionship and maintaining a warm home aligned with L’Arche values.

Responsibilities include medication administration, documenting supports, and ensuring a safe environment while adhering to health and safety protocols. Weekend shifts are preferred, with up to 48 hours per week depending on needs.

Qualifications

• Experience in community living, disability support, or similar settings is an asset.
• Compassionate, patient, and reliable approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to assist with personal care respectfully; training provided.
• Basic/Workplace First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain.
• Vulnerable Sector Screening on file or willing to renew.

Responsibilities

• Support core members with daily activities (meals, routines, transportation, personal care).
• Administer medications as needed.
• Foster inclusion, dignity, choice and relationships in interactions.
• Document supports and notable events per community procedures.
• Maintain a safe, clean, welcoming home environment with health and safety protocols.
• Communicate effectively with house leaders and team members; monitor internal boards and emails.
