Job summary

Oxford Learning Unionville is seeking a part-time high school English teacher/tutor to support Grade 9–12 students after school and on Saturdays. You will work with up to three students, in-person at our Unionville centre, delivering pre-planned lessons and following our proprietary teaching approach.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification, have strong written and spoken English, and can commute to Unionville.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field.
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to commute to Unionville location.
  • Experience tutoring Grade 9–12 English is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time in-person and online.
  • Teaching both English and elements of Social Studies as needed.
  • Following Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Filling in post-lesson notes and daily student communication updates.
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times.
  • Schedule: after-school and Saturday mornings.

Gain valuable teaching experience!Oxford Learning Unionvilleiscurrently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys teaching the ins and outs of language and social studies and is passionate about helping others build their skills inthese areas.

Teacher-Tutorsat Oxford Learningdo nothave to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements

All Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after-school and evening hours (4:00pm - 8:30pm) as well as Saturdays(9:00am - 1:30pm). A commitment until the end of theschool year is preferred.Continuing through the summer is even better.Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position.No relocation package is offered.Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grade 9 to Grade 12 English curriculum
  • Knowledge of Social Studies is a bonus
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring English at aGrade 9 to Grade 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills, and the ability to guide students' understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities (Position Details)

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teaching online and in-person
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
