Job summary

Soar-Community-Services in Brantford, ON is seeking a Part Time Emergency Housing Support Worker to assist individuals in securing emergency accommodations and access to warming/cooling centers and shelters.

You will collaborate with the Housing Services team, apply harm-reduction principles, and ensure accurate documentation in agency databases while supporting vulnerable clients in extreme weather conditions.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Human/Social Services or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years’ combined student placement or paid experience with vulnerable populations.
• Proficient in MS Office and databases.
• Access to reliable transportation.
• Able to manage vicarious traumatic stress.
• Able to visit clients in homes and public locations, including exposure to smoking environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct client service in emergency housing settings.
• Collaborate with Housing Services to deliver program support.
• Apply harm reduction approaches in all interactions.
• Maintain documentation and reporting in agency databases.
• Participate in team meetings and interagency referrals.
• Coordinate with referral partners based on client needs.
