Job summary

County of Elgin is seeking a Part-time Dietary Aide for Elgin Manor in Southwold, near St. Thomas, Ontario. You will perform basic food preparation, assist the Cook, and handle food safely in accordance with regulations.

You will serve meals, set and clear tables, receive goods, and maintain a clean, sanitary work environment while keeping accurate records. The role offers competitive pay and benefits eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker program meeting the requirements of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021.
  • Current Food Handling Certificate.
  • A passion for serving others and providing quality care.
  • Cook diploma (an asset).
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Elgin Manor is a 90-bed long-term care facility situated in the Township of Southwold, just a few minutes outside of St. Thomas, Ontario. Each home area is equipped with recreation rooms, sitting areas, and television lounges to enhance programming, socialization, and visits from family and friends. Elgin Manor also features multiple outdoor garden patio areas and walkways in a tranquil rural setting, right in the heart of beautiful Elgin County.

About The Role

As a Dietary Aide, you will be responsible for basic food preparation, assisting the Cook where needed, and handling food in accordance with safety and sanitary regulations. You will also be responsible for service of food, setting and clearing tables, and receiving goods delivered to the dietary department. Attention to detail is key, as you will keep accurate records while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment (knowing the proper procedures for operating and cleaning all equipment, utensils, work services, etc. used in food service areas).
