Job summary

Empower Simcoe in Barrie is seeking Permanent Part-Time Direct Support Workers to join our group homes. The role involves day-line shifts up to 59.5 hours bi-weekly, with shift lengths of 10–12 hours between 7am and 8pm.

Minimum qualifications require a Human Services credential, with weekend and holiday availability. Benefits begin after probation, including health, life, dental, sick time and vacation. Hourly wage starts at $24.63, with 11 paid statutory holidays.

Qualifications

• Completed Degree or Diploma from an accredited college or university in the Human Services field.
• If degree/diploma is in an unrelated field, 2 years full-time work experience directly supporting people.
• Must be available for days, weekends, and statutory holidays.
• Provide current, clear police record check with vulnerable sector screening and a pre-employment medical.

Responsibilities

• Direct Support Workers provide support to individuals with intellectual disabilities in a group home, including overnight shifts when required.
• Assist with daily living tasks: personal care, household duties, meal preparation and finances; support community appointments and events.

Compensation Package

These positions will be assigned to our permanent day line working up to 59.5 hours bi‑weekly between the hours of 7am and 8pm with shift lengths either 10, 11 or 12 hours (i.e. 7am to 6pm or 8am to 6pm or 7am to 7pm etc.).

• Additional hours may be available with a minimum rate of pay of $24.63/hour;

Minimum Qualifications

• Candidates must have a completed Degree or Diploma from an accredited college or university in the Human Services field (including, but not limited to: Developmental Service Worker, Social Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, Bachelor of Social Work, Personal Support Worker, etc.);

• Candidates who have a completed Degree or Diploma from an accredited college or university in an unrelated field must have 2 years full‑time work experience directly supporting people;

• A valid "Class G" driver's license and reliable transportation are considered an asset.

Role/Duties

Our Direct Support Workers provide support to individuals with intellectual disabilities with all aspects of daily living within a group home setting. Responsibilities may include providing support during overnight shifts, personal care, household duties, meal preparation and finances. You may also support people to appointments or events to foster connections within the community.
