Job summary

Canada's National Ballet School (NBS) in Toronto is seeking a part-time, permanent Kitchen Assistant to support the Chef and Cooks with dishwashing, food preparation, and service for students and staff.

You will help assemble meals, maintain a clean, safe kitchen, and follow HACCP guidelines. Valid Food Handlers Certificate and the ability to work Tuesday to Thursday are preferred; benefits include health coverage, vacation time, and staff meal perks.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Food Services role in a professional/institutional kitchen.
• Knowledge of food safety practices; valid Food Handlers Certificate is required, Smart Serve is an asset.
• Strong understanding of sanitation and cleanliness, WHMIS knowledge.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with good interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable working with school-aged children.

Responsibilities

• Assist with kitchen production and food preparation for meals, salads, snacks, catering and dietary accommodations.
• Prepare sandwiches, salads and grab-and-go items for the café.
• Assist with receiving deliveries and organizing storage; light cleaning duties.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment following HACCP and school policies.
• Serve patrons at the café and communicate daily fare and portions.
• Support the team to meet department objectives.
