Job description

The Red Deer Downtown Business Association (DBA) is dedicated to enhancing the vibrancy, economic health, and revitalization of Red Deer’s downtown core. We support local businesses through events, beautification, and strategic advocacy.

We are seeking an experienced and trustworthy part-time contract bookkeeper to oversee our day-to-day and monthly financial operations. This role is well suited to a CPA or senior-level bookkeeper seeking flexible, remote work with occasional in-person meetings and consistent monthly hours.

Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including recurring payments and seasonal vendor invoices
  • Manage payroll for 5 salaried staff and up to 8 seasonal employees using Sage and Telepay
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements and manage monthly reporting to the CEO (P&L, ledgers, budgets)
  • Prepare quarterly GST remittances and year-end filings (T4s, WCB, audit prep)
  • Maintain accurate records for project budgets and assist with grant-related financial tracking
  • Respond to CRA inquiries and support annual audit and reporting processes

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Proficient in Sage (or comparable software)
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll requirements and CRA regulations
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
