Job summary

Rocky View Schools is seeking a continuing, part-time Caretaker I to provide routine cleaning duties at Elbow Valley Elementary School starting immediately, Monday to Friday after school hours with occasional 1-2 day shifts per month. The school is located in Springbank on the western edge of Calgary.

Under supervision, the Caretaker I handles housekeeping, maintains clean and safe classrooms and common areas, and supports overall school operations while upholding health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning experience is an asset.
• Certifications from cleaning organization are assets.
• Experience in a school division is an asset.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Attention to detail related to varied and complex cleaning tasks.
• Work independently and as part of a team to complete tasks.
• Demonstrate pride in workmanship.
• Keep sidewalks, steps, and entrances free from ice and snow.
• Perform building security checks as scheduled.

The Opportunity

RVS is currently seeking applications for a continuing, part-time (20 hrs/week) Caretaker I position to provide routine cleaning duties atElbow Valley Elementary Schoolstarting immediately withMonday to Friday after school hours with the exceptionof 1-2 day shifts per month (as per School Year Calendar) .

Under the supervision of the Head Building Operator and Building Operator, the Caretaker I providescaretaking services at their assigned RVS facilities. The Caretaker I is responsiblefor the housekeeping of school buildings, maintaining contents and furnishings in good appearance and inclean, tidy, sanitary condition, as assigned by their supervisor.

Responsibilities Include

• Attention to detail related to varied and complex cleaning tasks
• Ability to work independently and perform assigned tasks within a team environment
• Demonstrated pride in workmanship
• Keeps assigned sidewalks, steps, and entrances free from ice and snow
• Performs building security checks as scheduled by the Head Building Operator
• Experience working in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety, WHMIS and other relevant legislation

Education/Experience

• Previous cleaning experience is considered an asset
• Certifications from cleaning organization is considered an asset
• Previous experience within a school division is considered an asset
• An equivalent combination of Education and Experience may be considered

Knowledge/Skills

• Basic knowledge of proper cleaning procedures
• Ability to successfully work in a team environment as well as independently with minimalsupervision
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
