Job summary

The City of Woodstock is seeking a Part-Time Assistant Instructor for Aquatics to support Lifesaving Society swim programs under the supervision of the Manager of Aquatics and Recreation Programs.

You will assist in delivering lessons, help evaluate candidates, and interact with parents in a friendly manner while maintaining a safe pool environment. This role requires current lifesaving certifications and physical fitness.

Qualifications

• Must remain current with Lifesaving Society certifications.
• Ability to interact pleasantly with the public and patrons.
• Demonstrated physical fitness to participate in aquatic activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the instruction of Lifesaving Society Swim programs (Preschool, Parent and Tot, Youth and Adult).
• Assist the Instructor by delivering swim lessons and evaluating candidates as directed.
• Answer questions and concerns from parents as needed.
• Support the setup of the deck and pool before instruction periods and assist with cleanup after.

Reporting to: Manager of Aquatics and Recreation Programs

Salary Range: $17.60 - $19.72 as per Schedule "A"

Responsibilities

1. Assists in the instruction Lifesaving Society Swim programs (Preschool, Parent and tot, Youth and Adult) programs.
2. Assists the Instructor as directed, performing duties, such as, but not limited to:
   • Assist the instructor in the delivery of swim lessons,
   • Assists in evaluating candidates,
   • Assists with questions/concerns from parents.
3. Qualifications must remain current at all times (within two years of certification date).
4. Performs other duties as assigned from time to time.
5. Help with the set up deck and pool prior to Instruction periods and clean up after.

Qualifications

• Lifesaving Assistant Water Safety Instructor Certificate,
• Bronze Cross Certificate or National Lifeguard,
• Standard First Aid and CPR-C,
• Excellent physical condition,
• Ability to pleasantly deal with the public.

Hours of work not to exceed forty-eight (48) hours in a two week period in accordance with the C.U.P.E., Local 1146 - Inside/Part-time Unit collective agreement.
