Job summary

The City of Woodstock is seeking a Part-Time Program Instructor to lead a variety of recreation activities and birthday party packages for youth and families. Reporting to the Manager of Recreation Programs and Camps, you will implement programs across arts, sports, and education while delivering a FUN and safe environment.

This permanent part-time role requires First Aid/CPR-C, HIGH FIVE certification, and a Class 2 driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 10 is required.
• Must have Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certification.
• Must have HIGH FIVE – Principles of Healthy Child Development.
• An asset – Class 2 driver’s license in good standing and access to a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Instruct City of Woodstock recreation programs.
• Deliver City of Woodstock birthday party packages, themes may include, but not limited to, sport parties, nerf parties, dance parties, and more.
• Performs duties such as supervision of participants; follow lesson plans; track attendance, incidents, and accidents; follow facility and department policies including safety procedures.
• Work with minimal supervision and handle inquiries in a courteous manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Instruct City of Woodstock recreation programs
   • Recreation programs may include, but are not limited to, sports, art, dance, educational (ex. Home Alone), music, and more.
2. Deliver City of Woodstock birthday party packages, themes may include, but not limited to, sport parties, nerf parties, dance parties, and more.
3. Performs duties such as, but not limited to:
   • Responsible for the direct supervision of program and birthday party participants;
   • Responsible for following and adapting lesson plans;
   • Responsible for the tracking of programs, attendance, incidents, and accidents;
   • Know and follow facility and department policies and procedures (including emergency procedures);
   • Follow safety supervision basics and ensure safety of program participants. Practice preventative approach to safety;
   • Deliver programs following the HIGH FIVE Principles and Design Guidelines.
4. Works with minimal supervision.
5. Ability to deal with the public (handle complaints, inquiries) in a pleasant and courteous manner.
6. Refers inquiries or situations that they are unable to handle to full time staff or supervisor.
7. Performs other duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications:

• Minimum Grade 10;

Experience:

• Must have experience in the programs that you will be hired to teach, including, but not limited to, sports, physical and non-physical activities, creative programs, and educational programs like Home Alone.

Working Conditions

• Will work a variety of days, evenings and weekends;
• Applicants can expect to have a large role in instructing summer youth programs;
• Environments may include indoor and outdoor spaces.
