Job summary

The Town of Whitby is hiring an Instructor Guard to ensure a safe, welcoming aquatic environment and deliver Lifesaving Society programs in accordance with current standards. The role requires in-water instruction and occasional dryland teaching, with a strong focus on safety and customer education.

Key responsibilities include supervising the pool area, responding to emergencies, enforcing rules, preparing lesson plans, and maintaining up-to-date certifications.

Qualifications

• Must possess Lifesaving Society certifications listed above.
• Commitment to aquatic safety and public instruction.
• Ability to deliver Lifesaving Society Swim programs in-water with some dryland teaching.

Responsibilities

• Patrol pool deck and monitor patron safety.
• Respond to emergencies following NLS standards.
• Enforce pool rules and provide safety education.
• Deliver Lifesaving Society Swim programs in a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Prepare weekly lesson plans and progress reports.
• Maintain equipment and attend mandatory staff meetings.
