Job summary

YMCA of Southwestern Ontario is seeking a Lifeguard & Swim Instructor to support our aquatics programming. You will supervise pool activities, deliver group and private lessons, and ensure a safe, respectful environment for participants of all ages.

The role requires current Lifeguard certification, First Aid/ CPR-C, and prior experience with children and swim instruction. We offer a supportive team, impact‑ful work in a community‑focused nonprofit, and access to YMCA health and wellness

Qualifications

• Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard - Pool (current certificate required).
• Standard First Aid and CPR-C (current certificate).
• YMCA Swim Instructor or equivalent (current certificate required).
• Lifesaving Instructor and Emergency First Aid Instructor an asset.
• Experience working with children, youth, and adults is an asset.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Guard the pool and supervise activities during recreational swims and lessons.
• Provide competent swim instruction for individuals and groups.
• Monitor participants and respond to emergencies when needed.
• Assist with volunteer development in co-teaching situations.
• Maintain safety policies and follow YMCA procedures.
