Job summary

The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia seeks four Sessional Officers for the auxiliary as-and-when position. You will facilitate access, conduct security screening, and prepare spaces for Parliament sittings, ensuring discretion and protocol are followed.

Schedules vary; hours can run 8:30am–7:00pm when the House is in session, with additional hours during non-session visitor periods, in Victoria, BC.

Qualifications

• Completion of grade 12 plus a minimum of one year of experience in an administrative or customer service environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively and interact in a tactful, professional manner with the public and office staff.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and control access to Parliament facilities and provide security screening during House sittings and committee meetings.
• Prepare and secure the Chamber, galleries, corridors and rooms for use and secure them afterwards.
• Maintain tact and discretion and follow Parliament protocol in all dealings.
• Work fluctuating hours between 8:30am and 7:00pm when the House is in session; additional hours during visitor periods.
