Job summary

The City of Victoria is seeking a Leadhand – Parks Operations to oversee ornamental horticulture, turf, arboriculture and sport field maintenance. You will supervise approximately 9 staff, coordinate work schedules, ensure safety standards, and provide training to crew members.

Work is Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. This temporary role (up to 4 months) offers $46.45 per hour under CUPE Local 50, with a strong focus on quality and teamwork in city parks.

Qualifications

• 2 years of horticultural experience including supervisory experience.
• Diploma in horticulture or BC trades qualification in landscape horticulture (4 years) or equivalent.
• Pesticide Applicator Licence required.
• Current and valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise ~9 staff in park horticultural maintenance.
• Ensure schedules, procedures and safety standards are followed.
• Train staff and provide input to performance appraisals.
