Job summary

The City of Victoria is seeking a Trades Landscaper to coordinate and participate in park hard infrastructure work at a trades level. The role involves constructing and maintaining park facilities, reading engineering plans, and operating heavy tools and equipment.

Working Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with a 40-hour week. The position offers a $42.13/hour wage, 15% in lieu of benefits, and CUPE Local 50 union benefits. Closing date: Oct 6, 2026.

Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary education; trade-related diploma/certification preferred.
  • BC trades qualification in landscape horticulture or equivalent diploma/trades credential.
  • Canadian Certified Playground Inspector Certification 32 hours.
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver's licence.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and participate in park hard infrastructure work at a trades level.
  • Assemble, construct, install and maintain park infrastructure (furniture, barriers, signage, play structures, pathways).
  • Read and interpret engineering plans and location of utilities.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment (drill, saw, grinder, excavators, etc.).
  • Maintain records and reports for maintenance and new installations.
  • Provide work instruction to staff and complete daily/seasonal records.
