Job summary

The City of Victoria is seeking a Senior Parks Maintenance Worker to enhance and upkeep the City’s parks and open spaces. The role requires operating a range of industrial vehicles and hand/power tools to maintain high standards of public spaces.

Applicants should have a Grade 10 education and a valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence, plus about 2 years of related experience. This CUPE Local 50 vacancy is temporary up to 3 months with a 40-hour week.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 education is required.
• Current and valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence is required.
• Minimum 2 years of directly related landscape, horticulture and/or tree maintenance experience with operating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist park operations by tasks in horticulture, arboriculture, turf and infrastructure.
• Mow, trim, weed, plant beds, maintain landscapes and turf.
• Operate and maintain park equipment and vehicles; record logs and time sheets.
• Provide information to staff and public; respond to inquiries.
