Job summary

The City of Brampton is seeking a Coordinator, Parks Community Programs to develop and deliver community engagement initiatives and park programs within the Parks Maintenance & Forestry division.

You will lead environmental education, volunteer engagement and outreach activities, aligning with divisional priorities and the city’s sustainability goals. Strong partnerships and event coordination are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3–5 years experience in programming in a municipal environment, strategic environmental initiatives or community outreach programs.
• Minimum 2–3 years supervisory experience coordinating community initiatives and working with community partners, schools and/or volunteer organizations.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and deliver community engagement initiatives, parks programs and outreach activities within Parks Maintenance & Forestry division.
• Foster community pride and environmental stewardship through high quality programs for residents, schools and local partners.
• Lead delivery and administration of park programs such as Community Gardens, volunteer outdoor rink and tree planting initiatives.
• Build relationships with community groups, schools, non-profits, businesses and volunteers to support park stewardship.
• Coordinate marketing materials and outreach, including program guides, social media and website updates.
• Recruit, train, schedule and supervise staff; monitor labour relations and administrative duties.
• Develop and manage budgets; track participation and outcomes; prepare grant applications and partnership agreements.
