Job summary

Job description

The Parking Attendant is responsible for supporting the safe, efficient, and organized movement and parking of vehicles throughout RED Mountain Resort’s parking areas. As one of the first points of contact for arriving guests, this position plays an important role in both the guest experience and the effective use of available parking capacity.

The Parking Attendant works primarily outdoors and is responsible for directing vehicles, maintaining traffic flow, maximizing available parking space, monitoring pedestrian and vehicle interactions, and communicating parking conditions or concerns to the appropriate resort departments.

This position also supports other areas and functions in the Facilities department, such as janitorial and snow removal, based on operational needs and requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Parking & Traffic Management

Direct arriving vehicles to designated parking areas in a safe, organized, and welcoming manner.

Park vehicles efficiently to maximize available parking capacity while maintaining appropriate access and traffic lanes.

Maintain safe and effective traffic flow through resort entrances, roadways, drop-off areas, and parking lots.

Ensure fire lanes, emergency access routes, loading zones, accessible parking spaces, bus areas, and other designated areas remain clear.

Assist with managing vehicle congestion during peak arrival and departure periods.

Monitor parking areas and redirect vehicles as lots reach capacity.

Place and maintain parking cones, signs, barricades, and other traffic-control equipment as required.

Assist with parking requirements for special events and other high-volume operating days.

Communicate parking capacity, traffic concerns, and changing conditions to supervisors and other departments as required.

Assisting with snow removal where required

Other duties as may be assigned e.g. small maintenance jobs, janitorial tasks

Guest Service

Provide a friendly and professional welcome to guests arriving at RED.

Provide basic resort information and directions, including access to Guest Services, Day Lodge facilities, ticketing, rentals, and other key resort locations.

Clearly and respectfully communicate parking instructions to guests.

Assist guests with parking-related questions and concerns where possible.

Escalate guest concerns or situations requiring additional assistance to the appropriate supervisor.

SAFETY & OPERATIONAL AWARENESS

Maintain awareness of moving vehicles, pedestrians, buses, snow removal equipment, and other hazards within parking areas.

Position yourself in a safe and visible location when directing vehicles.

Wear required high-visibility clothing and other PPE while performing parking duties.

Monitor parking areas for hazards, including icy surfaces, snow accumulation, blocked access, damaged signage, or unsafe vehicle positioning.

Promptly report hazards, incidents, vehicle concerns, or unsafe conditions.

Coordinate with snow removal and Facilities/Operations teams to support safe and effective parking lot operations.

Never place yourself in the path of a moving vehicle or attempt to physically stop a vehicle.

Follow RED Mountain Resort's established safety procedures and participate in required safety meetings and training.

Previous experience in parking, traffic control, guest service, resort operations, or a similar environment is an asset but not required.

PHYSICAL & WORKING REQUIREMENTS

This position works primarily outdoors during winter conditions. The successful candidate must be able to:

Stand and walk outdoors for extended periods.

Work in snow, cold temperatures, wind, precipitation, and changing mountain weather conditions.

Safely navigate snow-covered, icy, and uneven surfaces.

Move and position cones, signs, barricades, and other parking equipment.

Wear appropriate winter clothing and required PPE.

Work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and peak operating periods as required.
