Job summary

Eclipse Automation in Cambridge, ON is hiring a Painter/Sandblaster to operate spray painting and sandblasting equipment for protective coatings on fabricated structural steel. You will collaborate with other departments to hit project goals and maintain Eclipse’s standards and culture.

Responsibilities include painting and blasting parts, masking surfaces, preparing materials, and ensuring safe, efficient production.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly.
  • SolidWorks knowledge is an asset.
  • Reading blueprints is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and travel if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate spray painting and sandblasting equipment to apply coatings to fabricated steel.
  • Coordinate with other departments to meet project budgets and timelines.
  • Prepare surfaces and masking for blasting and painting.
  • Ensure safety while using abrasive blasting equipment and paint systems.
  • Maintain productivity and meet milestones as part of Eclipse projects.

The Position

The Painter-Sandblaster will operate spray painting and sandblasting equipment to apply protective coatings and paints to fabricated structural steel material. The incumbent will liaise directly with other department personnel to ensure project goals are met on budget, while delivering the Eclipse Vision and the Eclipse Entrepreneurial Culture.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Shop painting experience, painting of parts / machines
  • Shot blasting experience, blasting of parts to specific SP conditions
  • Knowledge of masking requirements for machined surfaces prior to both blasting and painting processes
  • Ability to use abrasive-blasting equipment in a safe manner
  • Experience using Pressure Pots, Cup Guns and HVL Guns
  • Ability to mix their own paint
  • Knowledge on prepping material for paint
  • Spray / Bake booth experience
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently maintain a high productivity level with a high commitment and flexibility to achieve business goals
  • Manually painting in a manufacturing environment
  • Will examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Order materials and quote to paint times etc.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and actively participate in group meetings safely
  • Ensure scheduled milestones are met
  • Notify the appropriate departments if milestones are not met
  • Adhere to the Eclipse Project Operating Policy
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Eclipse Automation Inc. Conduct Code
