Job summary

A regional health authority in British Columbia is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit at Royal Columbian Hospital. Responsibilities

• Assess post anaesthetic patients by collecting and evaluating information.
• Provide nursing care to address critical care needs.
• Communicate and share information with health care team members.
• Coordinate nursing care and assign tasks to support staff.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
• Establish therapeutic relationships with patients.
• Document nursing assessments and interventions.
• Participate in nursing committees and quality improvement activities.
• Act as a mentor to new nursing staff and students.

Skills

Clinical proficiency in the designated clinical area

Proficiency in initiating and maintaining Intravenous Therapy

Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment

Ability to recognize acuity changes and deal with emergency situations

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Effective communication with patients and families

Promoting person-centered care

Integrating and evaluating data to problem-solve

Teaching and instructing patients and families

Education

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing

Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with BCCNM

One year's recent relevant clinical nursing experience

Completion of post graduate course work or certification
