Job summary

Westlake Chemical in Vaughan, ON is seeking a dependable packager to support production efficiency by packing vinyl products to customer specifications, spotting defective items, and ensuring packaging is sealed for safe transport.

The role requires completing 12‑hour Continental shifts, basic math, and strong communication with teammates. Prior manufacturing exposure is an asset; shift premiums and incentives are offered to eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work 12-hour Continental shift.
• Grade 12 or equivalent completed.
• Manufacturing experience is an asset but not required.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; can work in a team.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical functions.
• Familiar with packing processes and lifting production equipment.

Responsibilities

• Pack vinyl products as they become available from a line according to specifications.
• Recognize, remove and report defective product and equipment.
• Prepare packaging for shipment and ensure proper boxing, gluing, stapling and closure.
• Maintain accurate counts of cartons and assist with crating.
• Ensure proper carton closure and safe transport to adjacent areas.
• Keep the work area clean and comply with safety policies.
• Participate in inventory counts when required.
• Operate air-powered equipment and assist with lifting production as needed.

We work together to enhance peoples' lives through our products and presence in the communities in which we operate.SUMMARYParticipate and contribute to effective production efficiency by packing vinyl products according to customer specifications, recognizing and removing any defective product and ensuring that packaging is properly sealed for transportation.MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 12 HOUR ROTATING CONTINENTAL SHIFTS******Shift Premium & Additional Incentives offered******Rate of pay: $22.48/hrDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMay include, but are not limited to, the following:Pack vinyl products as they become available from one extrusion/injection line as per specifications manual.Recognize, remove and/or report defective product and equipment.Prepare packaging for shipment and transportation (pre-glue boxes, interlock product and insert into boxes, ensure boxes are clear of vinyl punch slugs, glue and staple end caps to boxes and end flap are flush and square, use correct number of staples in the correct location).Maintains piece counts and correct number of completed cartons are stacked for crating.Ensures proper closure of carton and transport of carton to adjacent bed or skid.Keep working area free of scrap and maintain workplace safety.Monitor cartons and end caps for correct size and report discrepancies to Shift Supervisor.Participate in mid and year-end inventory count if required.Comply with all company policies and procedures, including health and safety, as applicable.Perform other duties as required by Shift Supervisor.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSMust be able to work 12-hour Continental shiftMust have completed Grade 12 or equivalentPrevious manufacturing experience is an asset but not a requirementGood communication skills.Ability to perform basic mathematical functions.Team player, strong interpersonal skills.Must have a good working knowledge of packing process.Must be comfortable using air operated equipment and must be able to lift production.Westlake is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
