Job summary

McCain Foods (Canada) in Grand Falls, NB is seeking a Packaging Technician to operate and maintain packaging equipment and support planning and training of operators. This regular full-time role requires safe, independent work on a 9-hour rotating shift, with potential nights and weekends when covering leaves.

The ideal candidate is licensed as Industrial Mechanic or Electrician and willing to enrol in a second trade, with experience in packaging equipment and familiarity with SAP/MDIxAI and MS

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as Industrial Mechanic or Industrial Electrician and willing to enrol in an apprenticeship for a second trade.
• Good safety record and ability to work unsupervised as well as with a team.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated and reliable in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with SAP, MDIxAI Maintenance Hub and MS Office is expected.
• Experience with packaging equipment is a plus.

About The Role.

McCain Foods (Canada) is seeking a Packaging Technician to join our Fry Plant in Grand Falls, NB. This position is ideal for a dual-trade Industrial Electrician and Industrial Mechanic, or for a qualified Industrial Electrician or Industrial Mechanic interested in obtaining dual-trade certification. The successful candidate will maintain and troubleshoot packaging equipment, provide coverage for the Packaging Planner during absences, and support the training of operators and packaging mechanics.

This is a physically demanding role requiring 9-hour rotating shifts on a Monday to Friday schedule with the possibility of working nights and weekends when covering for leaves and vacation. The position involves working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with regular walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

What you’ll be doing.

• Maintain packaging, palletizing and Tray Pack equipment.
• Support packaging Planner / Scheduler.
• Support and coach packaging mechanics.
• Train and support production operators.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and operational issues with packaging equipment.

When Replacing The Planner

• Plan and schedule work for the packaging mechanics based on notifications received from the Condition Inspector and trades people, and the MDIxAI defect log.
• Plan work for shutdowns and sanitation days, which includes making sure the required materials and support will be available on-time.
• Attend MP&S meetings (daily, weekly schedule-lock) and Shutdown Gantt chart planning.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful.

• The preferred candidate needs to demonstrate a good safety record
• Must be a licensed Industrial Mechanic or Industrial Electrician and willing to enrol in an apprenticeship program for a second trade
• Ability to work unsupervised as well as being able to work with other team members
• Needs to be diligent and able to pay close attention to details
• Needs to be self-motivated
• Must be comfortable with SAP, MDIxAI Maintenance Hub and MS Office suite
• Experience with packaging equipment would be an asset
• Experience in performing similar work will be taken into consideration

Compensation Package

- Starting at 27.27 CAD hourly + Bonus eligibility + Hourly Pay Differential for applicable shifts
