Job description

Are you a reliable and detail-oriented production professional seeking a rewarding career opportunity in manufacturing & logistics in Guelph, Ontario? We are currently hiring a dedicated Packaging Operator to join a fast-paced food manufacturing and distribution environment. As a Packaging Operator, you will play a central role in setting up, running, and adjusting high-speed packaging machinery to ensure high quality, accuracy, and operational efficiency across all production packaging lines.

In this full-time Packaging Operator position, you will read and interpret detailed job tickets to configure machine stops, guides, and material feed requirements. Working within a heavily regulated Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) framework, your day-to-day duties as a Packaging Operator will involve monitoring active machinery for mechanical defects or jams, performing routine in-process inspections on finished goods, and making precise operational adjustments as needed. Safety and sanitary compliance are paramount in manufacturing & logistics; therefore, you will strictly adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements—including safety footwear with CSA tags, protective coats, hairnets, masks, and gloves—for the entirety of your shift.

If you bring 6-12 months of hands-on machinery or warehouse experience and excel in structured manufacturing & logistics settings, this Packaging Operator role offers a stable day-shift schedule (Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM) with a competitive pay rate of $18.00 per hour. Randstad Operational connects driven individuals with industry-leading employers in manufacturing & logistics throughout Guelph and surrounding regions.

As this Packaging Operator role is situated in Guelph, Ontario, the core working language is English. Qualified candidates must possess clear verbal and written English communication skills to interpret work order documentation, log operational metrics, troubleshoot equipment issues with teammates, and strictly enforce food safety standards across all manufacturing & logistics workflows.

Advantages
  • Competitive rate of pay at $18.00 per hour.
  • Consistent, predictable day-shift schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
  • Stable full-time employment within the essential manufacturing & logistics sector in Guelph.
  • Clean, well-regulated, and safe working environment adhering to high SQF standards.
  • Gain valuable hands-on experience on modern packaging lines working alongside skilled industry professionals.
  • Ongoing career development, guidance, and dedicated support from experienced Randstad Operational recruiters.
Responsibilities
  • Read job tickets and production specifications carefully to determine proper machine stops, guides, and material feed requirements.
  • Set up, calibrate, start, and run automated packaging machinery according to established line speeds and rules.
  • Monitor machinery continuously during operation to detect physical defects, equipment jams, or minor mechanical malfunctions.
  • Perform routine quality control inspections on finished packaged goods to verify seal integrity, label placement, and package weight.
  • Execute basic troubleshooting procedures and make minor mechanical adjustments to ensure uninterrupted packaging flow.
  • Assist team members and co-workers with machine setups, product stacking, carton marking, packing, and transporting finished goods.
  • Perform thorough cleaning and sanitation procedures on packaging machinery and assigned work areas according to schedule.
  • Comply fully with workplace safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Safe Quality Food (SQF) regulations.
  • Maintain zero-jewelry, no false nails or nail polish, and no false eyelashes hygiene protocols inside regulated work zones.
  • Perform additional material handling, line packing, and warehouse support tasks as assigned by manufacturing & logistics supervisors.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education credential.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a packaging, machine operating, or warehouse setting; previous experience in the food industry is considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated physical capability to regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs safely throughout the shift.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving units of measure, fractions, and decimals.
  • Strict adherence to all safety guidelines, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards.
  • Full commitment to wearing all required PPE (CSA safety shoes, coat, mask, hairnet, gloves) and upholding zero-jewelry/nail/lash hygiene rules.
