Job summary

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting on behalf of a local Guelph client for an Evaluation-to-Hire Packaging Operator, with Monday–Friday daytime hours in a GMP environment.

You will set up, operate and adjust packaging machinery, read job tickets, monitor quality, and assist teammates; a high school diploma and 1–2 years in food production or packaging are expected, with reliable transportation required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• 1–2 years of relevant work experience; food industry experience is an asset.
• Comfortable with measurements and basic math, including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot within established procedures.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Experience in GMP environment preferred.

Responsibilities

This is a great opportunity for someone with food production, packaging, manufacturing, or machine operating experience who is looking to join a team in a structured GMP environment, with the potential to transition into a permanent position.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Set up, operate, and adjust packaging machinery

• Set machine stops or guides according to specified measurements
• Monitor machinery during operation for defects or malfunctions
• Inspect finished products for quality and defects
• Perform basic troubleshooting and make adjustments as needed
• Assist coworkers with machine setup and production activities
• Stack, mark, pack, and transport finished products
• Complete sanitation duties and maintain a clean work environment
• Follow all food safety, safety, GMP, and SQF requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned

GMP Environment Requirements:

This is a GMP environment, and PPE must be worn throughout the entire shift, including gloves, masks, hairnets, coats, and safety shoes.
