Job summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Production Worker / Machine Operator for a well-established Ottawa manufacturing facility. You will operate and monitor production equipment, follow SOPs, and maintain safety and quality standards in a refrigerated environment.

The role offers a wage of $19.95 per hour with Day Shift (6:30 AM–3:00 PM) and Afternoon Shift (2:30 PM–11:00 PM); training is provided on the alternate shift.

Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing or production environments preferred.
  • Machine operation experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of safe food handling practices and quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn, follow procedures, and adapt to changes in production needs.
  • Dependable, safety-conscious and committed to quality.
  • Capable of lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Able to stand for 8 hours and perform in a refrigerated environment (~10°C).

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate, start, stop, and monitor production equipment per SOPs.
  • Follow work instructions, schedules, specs, and SOPs to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report issues promptly.
  • Complete production, quality, and operational records accurately and on time.
  • Perform basic equipment adjustments, cleaning, and changeovers as needed.
  • Use tools safely and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Assist with routine maintenance and identify potential mechanical issues.
  • Ensure equipment is prepared and maintained for production throughout the process.

Job description

Our client, a well-established manufacturing facility in Ottawa, is seeking a Production Worker / Machine Operator to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic production environment where safety, quality, and teamwork are valued.

Required skills and qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is considered an asset
  • Previous machine operation experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safe food handling practices and food quality standards
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent observational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn new processes, follow procedures, and adapt to changing production needs
  • Dependable, safety-conscious, and committed to maintaining quality standards
  • Capable of lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 30 lbs
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods, including full 8-hour shifts
  • Comfortable working in a refrigerated production environment maintained at approximately 10°C
  • Able to perform physical tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining productivity and attention to detail
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Safely operate, start, stop, and monitor production equipment in accordance with established procedures
  • Follow work instructions, production schedules, product specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure quality and efficiency
  • Monitor equipment performance and promptly report any operational issues, malfunctions, or quality concerns
  • Complete required production, quality, and operational records accurately and in a timely manner
  • Perform basic equipment adjustments, cleaning, and product changeovers as required
  • Use production tools and equipment safely and effectively while maintaining a clean and organized work area
  • Assist with routine equipment maintenance and identify potential mechanical issues for timely resolution
  • Support production goals by ensuring equipment is properly prepared, maintained, and operating efficiently throughout the production process

Wage: $19.95 per hour

Day Shift: 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
Training will be completed on the Afternoon Shift from 2:45 PM to 11:15 PM

Afternoon Shift: 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM
Training will be completed on the Day Shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Candidates must be available to attend the designated training schedule before transitioning to their regular shift assignment.
