Job summary

Covenant House International in Etobicoke, ON is seeking an Overnight Youth Worker for the Thrive Transitional Program. This full-time, on-site role supports youth with shelter, crisis response, and ongoing recovery plans.

The successful candidate will carry out assessments, provide individual counseling, and collaborate with case managers to coordinate services and referrals. Trauma-informed practice, strong communication, and knowledge of community resources are essential.

Qualifications

• College/university degree or diploma in child and youth work or equivalent.
• Minimum two years' experience in a shelter or residential setting.
• Knowledge of adolescent developmental theory and related issues.
• First Aid, CPR and basic computer skills are an asset.
• Ability to identify, assess and intervene with youth in crisis; trauma-informed approach.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of community resources.

Responsibilities

• Ongoing assessment of youths' needs.
• Individual counseling with youth.
• Crisis intervention in situations of physical confrontation, medical and psychiatric emergencies, and for youth who have recently experienced trauma.
• Acting as an advocate for youth both within the agency as well with external agencies.
• Maintaining client files, intakes, discharges, case summaries, completion of all necessary forms pertinent to youths' plans.
• Providing direct support to Case managers.
