Job summary

Bento Sushi in Canada is seeking a Food Production Team Leader to support the Production Supervisor and Manager in keeping the factory running smoothly. You will lead vegetable preparation for the sushi line, supervise teammates, and ensure quality control and safety standards are met.

The role requires experience in fast-paced food production, ability to work in refrigerated environments, and strong leadership to coordinate shifts and duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in vegetable preparation in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to safely use knives, peelers and slicers.
• Experience with frozen meat packaging is required.
• Ability to work in refrigerated environment (cold climate).
• Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lb) and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist Production Supervisor and Manager to ensure smooth factory operations.
• Lead vegetable preparation for sushi production line to avoid delays.
• Perform root cause analysis for preparation delays.
• Introduce efficient vegetable prep techniques to the team.
• Assist in mixing meat with seasoning.
• Familiar with automated packing labelling machine and daily production records.
• Assign duties to teammates to ensure on-time prep.
• Ensure production areas are clean and ready for use.
• Check food quality according to Bento Sushi standards.
• Implement corrective actions to maintain product quality.
• Coach teammates on operating standards including food safety and quality control.

Location and hours

Responsibilities

The role of the Food Production Team Leader is to assist the Production Supervisor and Production Manager to ensure the smooth operations of the factory.

• In charge of cutting and preparing vegetables including, but not limited to, avocado, cucumber, carrots and pepper in an efficient/timely manner to enable the sushi production line to run without delays
• Responsible for performing root cause analysis for any vegetable preparation delays
• Responsible for introducing most efficient vegetable preparation techniques to your team
• In charge of mixing meat with seasoning
• Familiarity with automated packing labelling machine
• Maintain food supplies and calculate ingredients needed from the fridge and conduct daily production records
• Assign duties to production teammates to ensure on time preparation of the vegetables for production runs
• Ensure the production areas are cleaned and ready for use at all time
• Check food quality according to the Bento’s standards
• In charge of implementing and executing corrective actions according to product’s quality
• Coach teammates on all operating standards including food safety and quality control

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma
• Previous experience in vegetable preparation in fast-paced environments
• Ability to use knives, peelers, slicers safely and efficiently
• Knowledge of best practices in vegetable preparations (cutting, peeling, slicing) techniques
• Previous work experience in frozen meat packaging is required
• Previous knowledge of setting up label machines is a plus
• You thrive in a highly repetitive task environment
• Able to work in a refrigerated, cold climate (10°C working climate, 4°C for walk in refrigerator and -18°C for walk in freezer)
• Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lb) where required and stand for extended periods
• Flexible to work various shifts and weekends
• Ability to lead and direct a team
