Job summary

Bonaventure Support Services on Vancouver Island is seeking a Community Housing Support Worker for overnight shifts to support adults in home and community settings. You will help with daily living needs, promote independence, and work within a team under the Program Manager's direction.

Fluency in ASL or willingness to expand skills is valued, and this role may involve crisis intervention and risk management to ensure safe, respectful support for high-risk individuals.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal behavior and communication skills.
• Desire and ability to work with persons with diverse-abilities and promote dignity and independence.
• Ability to work independently in a high-stress environment.
• Must be in good health and physically capable of duties and shift responsibilities.
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License.
• RCMP Criminal Record Check (Schedule A)
• MCFD Hub Screening
• First Aid with CPR Certificate.
• Food Safe Level 1 Certificate.
• Immunization Records or Medical Exemption.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with activities of daily living and health-related needs as identified in PCP.
• Provide support and advocate for choice while supporting life skill development.
• Adhere to relevant legislation and regulations (Motor Vehicle Act, CLBC, MCFD, CARF, WorkSafe-BC, Employment Standards).
• Collaborate with government bodies and Bonaventure Leadership team.
• Uphold Bonaventure Policies and Code of Ethics and mission.
• Demonstrate tolerance and respect for individuals' dignity and rights.
• Perform duties safely and report health or safety concerns.
• Support and promote positive relationships with family and team members.
• Apply crisis intervention and risk management strategies.
