Job summary

Bonaventure Support Services is a dynamic social service agency on Vancouver Island, Nanaimo. As a Community Housing Support Worker, you will assist individuals with daily living needs at home and in the community, following the Program Manager's direction within a team setting.

You will help enhance quality of life, address physical, emotional, social, recreational, educational, and medical needs, and may provide crisis intervention as part of risk management.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in CSW, RCA, SIVA or related field.
• Excellent interpersonal behavior and communication skills.
• Ability to work with persons with diverse-abilities and promote dignity.
• Ability to work independently in a high-stress environment.
• Must have valid BC Class 5 Driver's License.
• RCMP Criminal Record Check, MCFD Hub Screening, First Aid/CPR, and Food Safe Level 1 are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with activities of daily living in home and community.
• Provide support and advocate for choice, supporting life skills development.
• Adhere to applicable legislation and agency policies.
• Collaborate with MCFD, CLBC, VIHA and Bonaventure Leadership.
• Uphold health and safety requirements and report concerns.
• Promote dignity, respect, and positive behavioral support.
