Sea-Sport Outboard Marina Ltd. in Prince Rupert, BC is hiring a full-time Outboard Marine Mechanic to service and repair motors, perform maintenance, and test equipment for optimal performance.

You will work closely with the Sea-Sport team under the Service Manager and gain hands-on experience in a growing marine service operation. Compensation ranges from $25 to $45 per hour, dependent on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Start motors and monitor performance for signs of malfunctioning
  • Document inspection and test results, and work performed or to be performed
  • Document test results
  • Mount motors on boats and operate boats at various speeds on waterways to conduct operational tests
  • Position equipment using hand tools, power tools, or heavy equipment
  • Repair engine mechanical equipment, such as power tilts, bilge pumps, or power take-offs
  • Repair defective engines or engine components
  • Perform routine engine maintenance on outboards, such as changing oil and filters
  • Replace parts, such as gears, magneto points, piston rings, or spark plugs, and reassemble engines
  • Replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts
  • Idle motors and observe thermometers to determine the effectiveness of cooling systems
  • Inspect and repair or adjust propellers or propeller shafts
  • Adjust carburetor mixtures, electrical point settings, or timing while motors are running in water-filled test tanks
  • Adjust vehicle components according to specifications
  • Set starter locks and align and repair steering or throttle controls, using gauges, screwdrivers, or wrenches
  • Inspect mechanical components of vehicles to identify problems
  • Adjust generators and replace faulty wiring, using hand tools and soldering irons
  • Adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Repair electrical circuits or wiring
  • Replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts

The position reports directly to the Service Manager and will closely work closely with the rest of our Sea-Sport team. Compensation

Sea-Sport Outboard Marina Ltd. (Sea-Sport) is a family-owned business serving the needs of Northwestern B.C. Our shop provides complete service for all the outboard motors and power equipment we sell. In addition, we provide hydraulic hose assembly and rigging for the marine or industrial needs of Prince Rupert and the surrounding area.
