Job summary

Miller Waste Systems Inc. is seeking a 310T Truck & Coach Technician for the Ottawa West area. This permanent full-time role operates on the 2:30pm–11:30pm shift, reporting to the Shop Foreperson. Start date is immediate with compensation at $45.96 per hour plus a $3.00 shift premium (total $48.96/h).

The technician will service and repair company vehicles, diagnose hydraulic and electrical faults, and maintain accurate records while upholding safety standards across the Ottawa region.

Qualifications

• Must hold and maintain a valid 310T Truck & Coach Technician licence.
• Valid G driver’s licence; DZ licence is an asset.
• Experience diagnosing faults and repairing hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Complete the service maintenance and repairs of all Company vehicles to ministry and company standards.
• Diagnose and resolve faults efficiently to minimize equipment downtime.
• Repair waste vehicles and trucks, troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems, and perform road tests.
• Complete work orders using available tools and equipment.
• Read and interpret manufacturer/operator manuals.
• Maintain accurate service records and files for vehicle maintenance.
• Respond to on-road service calls as required.
• Conduct preventative vehicle maintenance according to MWS policies.
• Ensure all equipment, vehicles, and work areas comply with safety policies.

Summary

The 310T Truck & Coach Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on a variety of company vehicles to meet both Ministry and company standards. The successful candidate’s expertise in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic and electrical systems, combined with strong problem-solving skills, will ensure reliable fleet performance and exceptional service throughout the Ottawa region.

Responsibilities

• Complete the service maintenance and repairs of all Company vehicles to both Ministry and Company standards and procedures.
• Diagnose and resolve faults efficiently to minimize equipment downtime.
• Repair waste vehicles and trucks, troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems, and perform road tests on serviced vehicles/equipment.
• Complete work orders using available tools and equipment.
• Read and interpret manufacturer/operator manuals.
• Maintain accurate service records and files for vehicle maintenance.
• Respond to “on-road” service calls as required.
• Conduct preventative vehicle maintenance according to established MWS policies and procedures.
• Ensure all equipment, vehicles, and work areas comply with safety policies and regulations at all times.
• Additional projects and duties as assigned.

Competencies & Qualifications

• Adhere to Miller Waste safety protocols and be familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving faults, with hands‑on expertise in repairing and maintaining hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Successful candidates must hold and maintain a valid 310T Truck & Coach Technician licence.
• Must have at least a valid 'G' Driver’s Licence, DZ Licence would be an asset.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced work environment and work effectively within a team.
• You must be flexible and available to work outside of the regular schedule when there are delays in the truck schedule; you may be required to work outside regular scheduled hours and on rare occasions, weekend work.
