Job summary

Miller Waste Systems is seeking a 310T Truck & Coach Apprentice for the Ottawa East location. The role focuses on maintenance and repairs of a diverse fleet to meet Ministry and company standards in a fast-paced setting.

The successful candidate will diagnose hydraulic and electrical faults, perform road tests, and document service records. Immediate start with afternoon shift and potential for additional hours; located in Ottawa East, ON.

Qualifications

• Must be a registered 310T apprentice.
• Valid G driver's licence; DZ licence would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Complete service maintenance and repairs of all company vehicles to meet Ministry and company standards.
• Diagnose and resolve faults to minimize equipment downtime.
• Repair waste vehicles and trucks; troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems; perform road tests on serviced vehicles/equipment.
• Complete work orders using available tools and equipment.
• Read and interpret manufacturer/operator manuals.
• Maintain accurate service records and files for vehicle maintenance.
• Respond to on-road service calls as required.
• Conduct preventative vehicle maintenance per MWS policies and procedures.
• Ensure all equipment, vehicles, and work areas comply with safety policies.

$27.58 - $41.36 plus $3.00 shift premium per hour

Summary:

The 310T Truck & Coach Apprentice is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on a variety of company vehicles to meet both Ministry and company standards. The successful candidate’s expertise in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic and electrical systems, combined with strong problem-solving skills, will ensure reliable fleet performance and exceptional service throughout the Ottawa region.

Responsibilities :

In the position of 310T Truck & Coach Apprentice, your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Complete the service maintenance and repairs of all Company vehicles to both Ministry and Company standards and procedures.
• Diagnose and resolve faults efficiently to minimize equipment downtime.
• Repair waste vehicles and trucks, troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems, and perform road tests on serviced vehicles/equipment.
• Complete work orders using available tools and equipment.
• Read and interpret manufacturer/operator manuals.
• Maintain accurate service records and files for vehicle maintenance.
• Respond to “on-road” service calls as required.
• Conduct preventative vehicle maintenance according to established MWS policies and procedures.
• Ensure all equipment, vehicles, and work areas comply with safety policies and regulations at all times.
• Additional projects and duties as assigned.

Competencies & Qualifications:

• Adhere to Miller Waste safety protocols and be familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving faults, with hands-on expertise in repairing and maintaining hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Successful candidates must be a registered 310T apprentice, along with any other required licences.
• Must have at least a valid ‘G’ Driver’s Licence, DZ Licence would be an asset.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment and work effectively within a team.
• You must be flexible and available to work outside of the regular schedule when there are delays in the truck schedule; you may be required to work outside regular scheduled hours and on rare occasions, weekend work.
