Miller Waste Systems Inc. in Ottawa East is seeking a Lube Technician to join our team immediately on an afternoon shift. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 3:00pm to 12:00am, with compensation of $26.55 per hour plus a $3.00 shift premium ($29.55/h).

You will service and repair company vehicles, diagnose issues, maintain records, and support fleet operations across the Ottawa region. A valid DZ licence is an asset, and a basic toolset is required.

• Mechanically inclined with a strong work ethic.
• Willing to learn and apply knowledge daily.
• Previous experience as a Lube Technician or similar is an asset.
• Able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Available to work late, overtime, weekends and holidays.
• Aspiring to obtain a Technician’s Licence.
• Must possess a basic set of hand tools.
• DZ licence is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Service of all Company vehicles, such as chassis lubrication, oil changes and cleaning of trucks and equipment.
• Conduct vehicle maintenance according to established policies and procedures.
• Maintain all required records and files for vehicle maintenance.
• Clean the shop, paint rims, and maintain the appearance of equipment.
• Assist technicians with basic repairs and other maintenance of trucks and equipment.
• Lubricating and conducting fluid services on all Miller Waste equipment as needed.
• Inspect and top off fluids like transmission, brake, coolant, and windshield washer.
• Apply lubricants to vehicle components to reduce friction and wear.

Summary

The Lube Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing company vehicles in compliance with safety, ministry, and company standards. This includes diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, performing road tests and service calls, and ensuring accurate maintenance records to support safe and reliable fleet operations across the Ottawa region.

Responsibilities

In the position of Lube Technician, your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with the occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Service of all Company vehicles, such as chassis lubrication, oil changes and cleaning of trucks and any other MWS equipment, as needed.
• Conduct vehicle maintenance according to established MWS policies and procedures.
• Maintain all required records and files for vehicle maintenance.
• Will also be required to clean the shop, paint rims, and generally maintain the appearance of the equipment.
• Assist technicians with basic repairs and other maintenance of trucks and equipment.
• Will be lubricating and conducting fluid services, on all Miller Waste equipment, as needed.
• Draining old oil, replacing filters and refilling with correct amount of new oil.
• Inspecting and topping off various fluids like transmission fluid, brake fluid, coolant, and windshield washer fluid.
• Applying lubricants to various vehicle components, such as chassis parts and wheel bearings, to reduce friction and wear.
• Additional projects and duties as assigned.

Competencies & Qualifications

• Successful candidates will be mechanically inclined and possess a strong work ethic.
• Should possess a strong desire to learn and an ability to apply that knowledge during their daily duties.
• Previous experience as a Lube Technician or in a similar role is considered an asset.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is key, as well as working in a team environment.
• You must be available to work late when trucks are behind schedule, as well you may be required to work overtime, weekends and on holidays.
• Should be striving to obtain a Technician’s Licence.
• Must possess a basic set of hand tools.
• A valid DZ Driver’s Licence for this position is an asset.
