Job summary

OSC is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day crossing guard operations in the Toronto region, reporting to headquarters leadership. You will lead teams, manage client relationships, and drive performance.

The role requires a post-secondary degree or diploma in operations management or a related field, with 5+ years of senior management experience in non-profit or service environments. Hybrid work and local travel are expected.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations for crossing guard services in Toronto, in partnership with headquarters leadership.
  • Lead teams, clients, and stakeholders in the Toronto region.
  • Manage client relationships, fulfill contract requirements, handle daily communications, and deliver required reports.
  • Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with key community stakeholders.
  • Track and resolve contract issues; identify corrective/preventive actions and mitigate safety/operational risks.
  • Monitor KPIs and safety; review reports to optimize operations across regions.
  • Coach and develop staff; ensure training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Attend meetings to discuss performance, improvements, and client updates.
  • Contribute to policy development.
  • Manage project budgets and administrative processes.
  • Provide recommendations for program development.
  • Plan and organize meetings and events.
  • Maintain records and databases.
  • Perform other duties as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for all day-to-day operations for our crossing guard operations in the Toronto region, under the leadership and in partnership with operational leadership at headquarters.
  • Provide leadership to team members, clients, and stakeholders in the Toronto region.
  • relationships and partnership with the Client, ensure all client contract requirements are fulfilled, manage day-to-day communications with the Client, and provide the Client with the required reporting deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with key community stakeholders.
  • Track, address, and resolve all issues and matters related to the contract promptly.Identify corrective and preventative issues for incidents. Identify and mitigate risks to safety and operations.
  • Monitor and improve operational performance according to keep KPIs, safety of crossing guards and pedestrians, and systems and processes in coordination with best practices in headquarters and other regions; examine reports (e.g., inventory, sales and daily reports) to determine the operational activities of the company and to maximize performance.
  • Coach and support the development of team members to achieve their full potential, establish and maintain a productive working environment and culture for all. Ensure that all staff receive appropriate training on job duties, organizational policies, and procedures, and provide coaching and mentoring and conduct evaluations of all program staff.
  • Attend all regular, and as needed, meetings to discuss contract performance and issues related to the services, including any operational improvements/lessons learned, to debrief on complaints, incident reports, outstanding service issues and inquires of the Client, and to provide updates.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental and organization-wide policy and procedures.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, oversee administrative processes.
  • Provide recommendations and information for program development.
  • Plan and organize meetings and special events as required.
  • Ensure maintenance of records and databases.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in operations management, business, or a related field.
  • 5 or more years previous senior management experience in the non-profit / business / front-line service environment with proven leadership abilities.
  • 3+ years of experience in leading people with reporting relationships (i.e. clear and solid understanding of personnel policies, practices, and procedures and other operational issues faced by the organization).
  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes.
  • Team player, and strong collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage key stakeholder and client relationships.
  • Able to identify key issues, creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles.
  • Strong knowledge of fiscal management and responsibility, finance, funding, contracts, and partnerships.
  • Effective attention to detail and rigor.
  • High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
WORK CONDITIONS
  • Ability to attend and conduct meetings.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Local travel required.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Regular business hours, though evening and weekend work will be required.
  • Currently a Hybrid Work Environment.
