Job summary

Alberta Health Services seeks a full-time Physician Assistant for the Orthopedic Surgery team at South Health Campus in Calgary. The PA will provide inpatient and acute care coverage, work with surgeons, and support multidisciplinary care.

The role includes teaching MPAS students, contributing to quality improvement, and opportunities to participate in research and CME. Shifts are 12 hours with on-call duties and weekends as scheduled.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a recognized Physician Assistant Education Program.
• Certified as a Canadian Certified Physician Assistant (CCPA) or PA-C (US).
• Registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
• Current independent liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive clinical care in Orthopedic Surgery.
• Onboard with transition plan toward independent practice under supervision.
• Perform/document assessments for inpatients and emergency room patients.
• Participate in emergency care and post-operative patient management.
• Assist with surgical procedures in the operating room.
• Review/discharge inpatients and coordinate follow-up care.
