Job summary

Gordon Food Service in Ajax, Ontario is seeking a warehouse associate to lift and load items, prepare pallets for shipment, and operate a computerized inventory system. You will work across freezer, cooler, and dry zones, with training provided and opportunities for advancement.

Paid training and broad benefits follow 30 days of employment, with a family-oriented culture and potential for productivity incentives and profit sharing.

Qualifications

• Must be physically fit and able to lift 10–80 lbs repeatedly.
• A focus on health and safety.
• Must demonstrate a proven record of consistent on-time attendance.
• Previous warehouse experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lifting and loading food service products (10–80lbs) onto pallets.
• Preparing pallets for shipping to a customer location.
• Accurately scanning and selecting products using a computerized inventory system.
• Safe operation of power equipment including electric pallet jacks.
• Working in temperature zones including a freezer (-20°C), cooler and dry goods areas.
• Exposure to and handling of all types of food products including seafood, meats, dairy, produce, spices, beverages and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety rules and Food Safety programs.
• All other duties as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Ability Required:

• Must be physically fit and able to perform general labour - safely and repeatedly lift, stack, pull and carry heavy items (from 10 to 80 lbs.)
• A focus on health and safety
• Must demonstrate a proven record of consistent on-time attendance
• Previous warehouse experience is preferred

• Preparing pallets for shipping to a customer location
• Accurately scanning and selecting products using a computerized inventory system
• Safe operation of power equipment including electric pallet jacks
• Working in a variety of temperature zones including a freezer (-20 degrees Celsius), cooler and dry goods areas. All warehouse employees must be prepared to work in all warehouse temperature zones, with a majority of their day being in the cooler/freezer.
• Exposure to and handling of all types of food products including seafood, meats, dairy, produce, spices, beverages and equipment
• Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations and Food Safety programs
• All other duties as required
