Job summary

Gordon Food Service is hiring a Class 1 Driver to deliver food products to customer locations in a fast-paced, team-driven environment. You will handle unloading, operate delivery vehicles safely, and maintain accurate delivery records while upholding safety standards.

The role requires a clean commercial driver's license, physical stamina, excellent communication, and the ability to work weekends and holidays as needed. Applicants should be reliable and customer-focused.

What We Require:

• Valid Class 1 driver’s license with a clean commercial driver’s abstract
• Physically fit and able to repeatedly lift, stack, pull and carry heavy items (up to 80 lbs)
• Strong communication and customer service skills with English fluency
• Previous professional driving experience is preferred
• Ability to work in a variety of weather, temperature and road conditions
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Must be goal oriented with a positive, “can do” attitude
• This position requires punctuality and attention to detail
• Eligibility for bonding and transportation of dangerous goods (TDG) certification
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• A high level of integrity and a strong work ethic, able to work with little supervision and be self-directed
• Professional demeanour under stressful situations
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Availability for statutory holidays and weekends

Responsibilities Include:

• Providing exceptional service to build and maintain quality customer relationships
• Manually sorting and unloading food products and hand-wheeling them into the customer locations with the use of ramps and occasionally stairs (approx. 600 - 1000 cases/shift)
• Operating straight trucks or trailers safely and professionally to transport goods and materials over urban, short inter-urban and rural routes
• Conducting routine pre/post-trip truck inspections and maintaining accurate records of delivery routes, temperature logs, count sheets and incident reporting
• Performing product delivery verification at the customer location and maintaining customer invoices
• Following health and safety and safe work procedures
