Role Description

The Optometrist will provide full-scope clinical care in an on-site, full-time role based in Calgary, AB. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing comprehensive eye examinations, prescribing glasses and contact lenses, and diagnosing and managing ocular diseases and conditions. The Optometrist will use advanced diagnostic equipment, including digital imaging and visual field testing, to support accurate assessments and treatment plans. The role also involves educating patients on eye health, preventive care, and treatment options, collaborating with clinic staff to ensure efficient patient flow, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation. The Optometrist will contribute to a high standard of patient experience while supporting the clinic’s commitment to environmentally conscious, technology-enabled care.

Qualifications
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Optometrist in Alberta, with a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Clinical skills in comprehensive eye examinations, refraction, prescribing glasses and contact lenses, and managing common ocular conditions.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic technologies such as digital retinal and corneal imaging, computerized visual field testing, and other modern optometric equipment.
  • Strong patient communication skills, including the ability to explain clinical findings, treatment options, and preventive care in clear, accessible language.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinic environment, supporting efficient patient flow and high-quality service.
  • Attention to detail and strong record-keeping skills to ensure accurate clinical documentation and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advances in optometry, ocular disease management, and eye care technology.
  • Experience in a retail or clinic-based setting and comfort practicing in a fast-paced environment are considered assets.
