This is a part-time, on-site Optometrist role based in Barrie, ON with open availability on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Optometrist will provide comprehensive eye examinations, including refraction, ocular health assessments, and diabetic eye evaluations, with a focus on early detection and management of ocular complications related to diabetes and endocrine conditions. Responsibilities include interpreting diagnostic test results, documenting findings in the medical record, collaborating closely with endocrinologists and the interdisciplinary care team, and educating patients on eye health, disease prevention, and treatment options. The Optometrist will also coordinate referrals to ophthalmology or other specialists as needed, support the optometry and eye specialist care program, and contribute to quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives.
