Job summary

Huawei Canada is seeking an Engineer on a 12-month contract to join our Advanced Optical Technology Lab. You will work on high-performance optical communications, developing models for optoelectronic components and testing their performance.

You will simulate fiber channels, analyze impairments, and collaborate with DSP, ASIC, and modem teams to deliver solutions for direct and coherent transceivers.

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc in EE, Optical Eng, Physics or related field.
• Experience with simulation and modeling of optoelectronic components.
• Programming in Python, C/C++, Julia.
• Strong experimental skills in optical system testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop models for high-speed optoelectronic components in optical transmission systems.
• Model fiber channels including single-, multi-mode, and hollow-core fibers.
• Assess device impairments via modelling, simulation and experiments.
• Set up test bed for pre- and post-FEC transmission performance evaluation.
• Collaborate with DSP, ASIC design and modem teams to address impairments.
