York Region is seeking an Operations Technologist, Infrastructure (Technologist II) to manage CCTV inspection programs for the York Durham Sewer System and oversee asset inventories for water and wastewater. The role reports to the Project Manager and supports data collection, reporting, and technical investigations.

The successful candidate will hold a 3-year Civil/Environmental Technology diploma, 3+ years of related experience, and strong knowledge of PACP/MACP standards, video equipment,

Qualifications

  • Three-year college diploma in Civil/Environmental Technology.
  • Minimum three years related linear asset management and CCTV inspection experience.
  • Knowledge of NASSCO PACP/MACP standards and water, wastewater processes and systems.
  • Knowledge of video equipment and multimedia.
  • Analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical data, engineering drawings and documents.
  • Ability to set priorities and meet objectives.
  • Computer skills including MS Office Suite, Access, and AutoCAD and use of virtual platforms.
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license free of serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare tender documents and specifications for annual CCTV inspection contracts for the York Durham Sewer System.
  • Manage contractors including project coordination, supervision of project implementation (in office and in the field), contract administration and quality control.
  • Review CCTV inspection videos in accordance with industry standard pipe grading systems.
  • Manage the asset inventory database for water and wastewater.
  • Compile an inventory of the water and wastewater underground assets.
  • Develop procedures and program applications for data acquisition and reporting as required by operations personnel.
  • Assist engineering with technical support associated with linear asset inventories, rehabilitation recommendations and budgeting.
  • Provide periodic reports on asset conditions and identify rehabilitation program needs.
  • Provide technical support and leadership in branch related policies and initiatives.
  • Respond to enquiries and resolve concerns from the public, area municipalities, provincial officials, etc.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies regarding legislative compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Participate on committees, task forces or work groups as assigned.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Project Manager, is responsible for managing and implementing technical, monitoring and support functions for the water and wastewater infrastructure inspection programs including the York Durham Sewer System (YDSS) closed circuit television (CCTV) inspection program.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Successful completion of a three (3) year Community College Diploma Program in Civil/Environmental Technology.
  • Minimum three (3) years related Linear Asset management and CCTV inspection experience.
  • Knowledge of the NASSCO PACP/MACP standards and water, wastewater processes and systems.
  • Knowledge of video equipment and multi-media.
  • Demonstrated ability in the Region’s core competencies.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Water Resources Act and the Environmental Protection Act.
  • Analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in mediation and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to interpret technical data, engineering drawings and documents.
  • Ability to set priorities and meet required objectives.
  • Computer skills including MS Office Suite, Access, and AutoCAD and use of virtual platforms.
