Job summary

NOVA Chemicals in Red Deer, AB, is seeking a Power Engineer to operate in a 24/7 plant environment, requiring a minimum High School diploma and a 4th Class ABSA Power Engineer's Certificate; a 3rd Class or higher is an asset. Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 4th Class ABSA Power Engineer's Certificate of Competency is required.
  • 3rd Class ABSA Power Engineer's Certificate of Competency or greater would be considered an asset
  • Power Engineering technology Diploma would be considered an asset
  • Power Engineering operating experience in an industrial plant setting
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to apply various acts, codes and regulations appropriate for the position
  • Effective interpersonal skills, high level of personal motivation and ability to adapt to change
  • Demonstrated commitment to health, safety and environment (HSE), Responsible Care® and operational safety excellence
  • Effective communication skills to manage a wide variety of operational priorities and work activities

Job description

This position will be in the following location: Joffre Administration 1 Red Deer, AB

What We Are Looking For:
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Minimum 4th Class ABSA Power Engineer's Certificate of Competency is required
  • 3rd Class ABSA Power Engineer's Certificate of Competency or greater would be considered an asset
  • Power Engineering Technology Diploma would be considered an asset
  • Power Engineering operating experience in an industrial plant setting
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to apply various acts, codes and regulations appropriate for the position
  • Effective interpersonal skills, high level of personal motivation and ability to adapt to change

Additional Information:
  • Relocation will be considered for this position
  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
  • This role may require up to 10% travel including occasional ad hoc travel between Canada and the U.S. and internationally based on business needs
  • This is a 12-hour rotating shift position
  • Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
  • Positions will include some lifting and climbing of ladders within various levels of the units
  • Overtime and callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation
  • In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator
  • The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license and be able to travel between Canada and the U.S. and/or internationally without restriction
