Job summary

Canlan Sports Scarborough is seeking an Operations Supervisor to oversee day-to-day facility operations, ice maintenance, and staff supervision within budget. This hands-on role requires coordinating scheduling, ordering supplies, and ensuring safety and cleanliness across the complex.

You will perform maintenance per codes, operate ice resurfacing equipment, and manage logs and reports while supporting team training and development in a fast-paced arena environment.

Qualifications

• Completed high school education or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• 1 to 3 years previous experience training and operation of ice resurfacing equipment.
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours evenings and weekends.
• Approachable and team orientated with great communication skills.
• Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude preferred.
• Trade or Janitorial experience is an advantage.
• Organized, self-motivated and proactive.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks in accordance with local building and fire codes.
• Responsible for Ice Maintenance tasks including Engo Operation, Edger operation, ice depth measurement, ice painting.
• Develop and maintain proficient computer skills in Ameresco Asset Planner.
• Ensure entrances, grounds and parking lot are kept clean, clear and safe.
• Perform minor maintenance on facility and ice maintenance equipment including Engo safety checks.
• Maintain checklists, records, and reports related to utility readings, safety checks and ice plant operations.

Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Operations Manager General Manager

the Operations Supervisor is responsible for basic plant operations facility and ice maintenance scheduling supervising and training of staff ordering supplies all within established approved budgets This is a hands on supervisor role actively involved in day to day facility operations

Operational Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks in accordance with local building and fire codes
• Responsible for Ice Maintenance tasks including Engo OperationEdger operationIce depth measurementIce choppingspuddingLevelling the IceIce Painting Execute maintenance and repair of facility fixtures and components Tasks may include but are not limited to minor electricalplumbingdrywall repairs painting dasher board system repair arena glass replacement hockey net refurbishing
• Develop and maintain proficient computer skills in Ameresco Asset Planner
• Ensure that entrances grounds and parking lot are kept clean clear and safe including Property & grounds cleanup Grass cutting and edgingSeasonal snow and debris removalRe lamping of rinks or other fixtures
• Perform minor maintenance on facility and ice maintenance equipment includingEngo safety check clean and waxSafe blade changes and grease machined as neededChange studding tired oil and spreader cloth as needed
• Maintain appropriate checklists records and reports with respect toUtility readingsEngo sign out safety checkWashroom dressing room and other janitorial check lists eg lobby arena
• Maintain and monitor the ice plant regularly and take appropriate actions as necessary for safe operation maintaining logs with readings as required and keeping appropriate notes on the followingCharge oil to compressorDrain OilAdd Brine GlycolTest for minor ammonia leakAdjust condenser water levelsClean condenser nozzlesRecord any maintenance carried outRecord ice plant temperature and pressure readingsMaintain cleanliness and repaint as requiredChange condenser fan beltsHVAC filter and belt change
