Job summary

Canlan Sports Scarborough is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead day-to-day facility operations, ice maintenance, scheduling, and staff training within approved budgets.

Under the direction of the Operations Manager/General Manager, you will perform maintenance to codes, manage ice and equipment tasks, and ensure clean, safe entrances and grounds. This is a hands-on role requiring flexibility for evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Completed high school education or equivalent (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license.
• 1 to 3 years previous experience, training and operation of ice resurfacing equipment.
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends).
• Approachable and team orientated with great communication skills.
• Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude (preferred).
• Trade or Janitorial experience is an advantage.
• Organized, self-motivated and proactive.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks in accordance with local building and fire codes.
• Ice maintenance tasks including Engo Operation, Edger operation, Ice depth measurement, Ice chopping/spudding, Levelling the Ice, Ice Painting.
• Execute maintenance and repair of facility fixtures and components including minor electrical/plumbing/drywall repairs, painting, dasher board system repair, arena glass replacement, hockey/nets refurbishment.
• Develop and maintain proficient computer skills in Ameresco Asset Planner.
• Ensure entrances, grounds, and parking lot are clean, clear and safe including grounds cleanup, grass cutting and edging, seasonal snow and debris removal, re-lamping of rinks or other fixtures.
• Perform minor maintenance on facility and ice maintenance equipment including Engo safety check, blade changes and grease machine as needed, replace studding/oil/spreader cloth as needed.
• Maintain checklists, records and reports (utility readings, Engo safety check, washrooms/dressing rooms, etc.).
• Maintain and monitor the ice plant regularly and log readings, temperatures and pressures; ensure safety and cleanliness.
