Since 2018, Slegg Building Materials has been part of the GMS family. Slegg has served Vancouver Island since 1947, providing building materials and home improvement products through multiple locations. Our team is dedicated and hardworking, creating a rewarding and welcoming work environment.

The Operations Supervisor assists the Manager with daily warehouse and delivery operations, including staffing, delivery planning, customer inquiries, and staff leadership. This role is key to achieving operational excellence. The salary range is $65,000 - $75,000 annually.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate shipping, operations, and transportation teams.
• Provide clear direction to enhance operational effectiveness.
• Assist the Operations Manager with management duties.
• Support customer service, order entry, and reporting as needed.
• Measure and report on team effectiveness.
• Travel for training, support, and supervision as needed.
• Support maintenance programs and servicing.
• Coach operations teams.
• Enforce safety programs.
• Adjust work procedures based on delivery schedules and workflow.
• Review reports and participate in operations calls.
• Encourage activity scanning and conduct safety inspections.
• Assist with deliveries and order building.
• Train delivery and yard staff.
• Manage the Transfer system and shipping processes, including space planning, routing, compliance, and vehicle inspections.
• Organize equipment repairs and communicate with sales and customers.
• Maintain vehicle maintenance records and record unfilled orders and errors.
• Ensure the shipping workspace is clean and organized.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements

• At least two years of experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of building supplies and home improvement products.
• Prior delivery experience required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Navision.
• Forklift certification is an asset.
• Effective communication skills in English.
• Ability to problem-solve, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.
• Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs, and perform pulling, pushing, bending, and twisting.
