Job summary

Fitness World Canada in Burnaby, BC seeks an Operations Manager to lead day-to-day club activities including front desk, childminding, member retention and retail. You will work closely with the General Manager as the vital link between the club and Head Office, wearing many hats to keep the location running smoothly.

This full-time role offers a base salary with over $10,000 in annual bonus opportunities, totaling $50,000–$60,000 per year.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of supervisory or team-lead experience in fitness, retail, hospitality, or a high-traffic environment.
• Proven track record recruiting, training, and developing frontline staff.
• Strong administrative skills—scheduling, paperwork, incident reporting, and record-keeping.
• Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple priorities at a busy location.
• Clear, dependable communication with team and cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, and develop the MSR team and maintain staff communications.
• Complete all administrative activities including onboarding, changes, and separations.
• Promote Fitness World's values by leading by example and maintaining a friendly environment.
• Document and suggest process improvements as the company grows.
• Oversee promotions, memberships, and products; coordinate with Sales, Fitness and Maintenance.
• Take on additional duties as assigned.

As Operations Manager at Fitness World, you'll run the day-to-day that keeps a whole location humming — Front Desk, childminding, member retention, and retail all fall under your watch. Compensation: Base salary plus over $10,000 in annual bonus opportunities, for a total package of $50,000–$60,000.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, and develop the Member Service Representative (MSR) team; maintain staff communication logs and document meetings to ensure progress and alignment
• Complete all administrative activities, including employee paperwork (new hire, changes, and separations), onboarding, scheduling, incident reporting, etc.
• Responsible for bringing Fitness World's core values and mission statement to life by promoting a friendly, fitness-focused environment through leading by example, including regular team clean announcements and leader led action.
• Proactively document and suggest process improvements as the company grows
• Strong knowledge of all monthly promotions, contests and membership and PT products
• Partner with cross-functional department leaders such as Sales, Fitness and Maintenance to ensure clubs alignment on processes and procedures.
• Additional Duties as assigned

Childminding

• All childminding staff certifications and back-ground check requirements are current and on file.
• Regular audit of payments and child check-ins.
• Ensure childminding staff adhere to FW childminding policies and procedures while providing safe, quality care in a friendly clean environment.

Inventory Management

• Ensure all retail products are ordered, received, counted and merchandised according to company standards.
• Review and discuss monthly shrink report with Manager of Club Operations and the General Manager

What You Bring

• 2+ years of supervisory or team-lead experience, ideally in fitness, retail, hospitality, or another high-traffic customer-facing environment
• A track record of recruiting, training, and developing frontline staff
• Comfort with administrative work — scheduling, employee paperwork, incident reporting, and record-keeping
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities across a busy location
• Clear, dependable communication with both your team and cross-functional partners
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as club operations require
• Valid childminding-related certifications and clearances (or willingness to obtain them), and comfort overseeing background-check and check-in compliance
• Retail or inventory experience an asset
